INGREDIENTS
250g (8.8 oz) all-purpose flour;
250g (8.8 oz) ‘00’ flour;
1 cup warm water;
100 g (3.5 oz) sugar;
50g (1.7 oz) butter, room temperature;
2 tsp vanilla extract;
2 tsp dry yeast;
½ tsp salt;
Sugar for decor.
METHOD
- Combine both flours with yeast and salt, make a well in the center and pour sugar, vanilla and water into it.
- Working with dough hooks, knead the dough until it starts to come together. Add soft butter and continue to mix everything until the dough is smooth and uniform.
- Form the dough into a ball, cover with plastic and set aside for an hour.
- When the dough has doubled in size, divide it into 30 g (1 oz) portions and form each into a ball. Cover again and set aside for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat vegetable oil to 180C/350F. Fry donuts for 4-5 minutes or until golden. Pass in sugar before serving.
